Named in honor of the surrounding Chelsea neighborhood, the Chelsea Hotelwill be the first luxury noncasino hotel to open on the chelsea hotel atlantic cityBoardwalk since the early 1960s. The hotel’s owner is promising that the retro-designed hotel will combine the feel of Atlantic City’s old-fashioned resort days with the glamour of 1930s Hollywood and the hipness of New York’s SoHo section. It is scheduled to open in June.

The Chelsea was renovated combining the old Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson hotels into one boutique-style property. It will feature trendy nightlife spots, two restaurants operated by celebrity restaurateur Stephen Starr, a spa, a saltwater pool and a rooftop swimming pool offering private cabanas and a full-service bar.

Atlantic City Tourism officials have begun characterizing The Chelsea as the noncasino version of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, the Las Vegas-style resort that brought a new level of luxury to Atlantic City when it opened in 2003.
