Aria Resort Casino

Introducing the new $9 billion Aria Resort Casino in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Sounds exciting, right? Well it is, but just one caveat. Its not new. Its just the new name of MGM-Mirage’s CityCenter resort. It looks like CityCenter wasnt cool or hip enough of a name so they had to rename it.

Las Vegas | CityCenter price tag increases

MGM announced that the budget for its 50% owned CityCenter in Las Vegas is now over $9 billion:

The gross project budget consists of $9.2 billion of construction costs (including capitalized interest), $1.7 billion of land, $0.2 billion of preopening expenses, and $0.1 billion of intangible assets

city center vdara hotel condo casinoCityCenter today commemorated the “topping out” of its 57-story Vdara Condo Hotel, the first of six distinctive high-rise towers that will be topped within the coming months. The completion of Vdara’s structure is a milestone for the construction progress of CityCenter as it moves toward opening in late 2009.

Las Vegas | Elvis vs Elvis

elvis presley casino hotel las vegasMGM had its first quarter conference call. I listened to the replay, and there was really only one takeaway that I felt the need to write about - the City Center Cirque du Soleil Elvis show!

This isnt really new news, but in light of the recent (high end) Elvis Presley casino that might get built across the street, I couldnt help but think the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon could become the new Graceland!
