Jamaica | Harmony Cove Casino

When I wrote about Palmyra Resort & Spa getting a casino license, it looks like I missed that Harmony Cove in Jamaica would also be granted a casino license under the Prime Minister’s Proposal.

Harmony Cove was already in the process of developing a large resort complex in Jamaica. Harmony Cove’s website says, “Tavistock Group has set out to create a new luxury resort with several hotels, three championship golf courses, mega-yacht marina, gaming lounge and other first class leisure amenities on 2,300 oceanfront acres located just 30 minutes from Montego Bay and Ocho Rios in Trelawny Parish.”  (more…)

Jamaica | Gov’t press release on casino legalization

Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, has said the Government has taken the decision to permit the licensing of casinos in Jamaica and has already approved proposals for a major new investment predicated on the granting of a casino licence.

The Prime Minister, who was making his contribution to the 2008/09 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives April 22, said the decision was based on a review of the issues surrounding casino gambling.
