Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

At 8 p.m. this evening, Steve Wynn unveils Encore, the new signature resort in the Wynn collection. Located next door to flagship property Wynn Las Vegas, Encore is a distinct destination with its own selection of accommodations, dining and leisure activities. Central to Encore’s fanciful and intimate environments are sunlit corridors with flowering atria and sprawling pools visible from throughout the property. Natural light floods the resort to reveal gardens, vibrant butterflies and signature mosaics.

Encore’s accommodations are comprised of 2,034 spacious suites that offer casual elegance in a comfortable, residential setting. The Resort Suites span up to 700 square feet and Tower Suites measure up to 5,800 square feet. Two separate arrival and check-in areas pamper guests and showcase the textured details of Roger Thomas’ interior design.  (more…)

I guess this should not come as a surprise considering the mess Las Vegas has gotten itself into, but geez, it still gets depressing writing about the doom and gloom rather than the BOOM.  (more…)

Las Vegas | Penthouse Magazine wants a casino

penthouse casino dealers las vegas

This would be exciting - naked card dealers.  And not only would they be naked, but they’d be Penthouse dealers.  What took people so long to think of this!

Blurb:

The casino would be based on the Penthouse brand and that would mean nudity would be involved. To what extent that would happen is yet unknown.

Whether or not the Nevada Gaming Commission would even allow for nudity on the casino floor is an issue all in itself. Bell does not believe it would be a problem, however, since he is pursuing the real estate.   (more…)

Las Vegas | New Fountain Blue website

fountain blue las vegas hotel casino

I noticed that  Fountain Blue Casino in Las Vegas recently updated their website for both the Las Vegas casino resort and the Miami Beach hotel.  There is some new information there (some specific and some not so specific) so it is definately worth checking out.  It looks like its going to be a real hotspot if the casino is anything like the Miami Hotel.  This past weekend the Miami Fountain Blue hotel kicked things off with a Victoria Secrets show and it was an A list of all the young Hollywood stars. Miami Beach | Fontainebleau casino?

Fountain Blue casino in Miami and Las Vegas

It looks like the owner of the Fontainebleau casino in Las Vegas wouldnt mind getting a casino legalized for their newly renovated Fontainebleau hotel along Miami’s South Beach.

From the Miami Herald:

According to drafts of the petition language obtained by The Miami Herald, the committee is considering three amendments, two of which are designed to appeal to the existing parimutuel companies in Miami-Dade and Broward by asking voters to give them the same games as the Seminole Tribe and lower their tax rate.

A draft of the proposed casino amendment allows for Class III gambling, including craps, keno, roulette, blackjack and slot machines, to be played at any of these sites: existing parimutuels in Miami Dade or Broward, a Miami location that is ”bounded by Northeast 11th Street, Biscayne Boulevard, Northeast Sixth Street and North Miami Avenue,” and at a hotel in Miami Beach that has ”over 800 lodging rooms” when the amendment is passed.

The Fontainebleau, with roughly 1,200 rooms, is the only Miami Beach hotel that would qualify, according to the Miami-Dade tourism bureau.

To become law, the amendments would have to be approved by 60 percent of Florida voters statewide, and the tax-related amendment would need 66 percent approval. In the past, gambling amendments have had a tough time, even before the law was changed to require they reach the 60 percent threshold.

Remember, its Fontainebleau, not Fountain Blue casino!

India | Its own Cotai Strip?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

In an interview with Bloomberg, LVS Chairman Sheldon Adelson said that he had just met with India’s Minister of Tourism, telling him LVS would love to invest $12 billion in the country to build its very own Cotai Strip destination, obviously of course if the country wanted them.

The thought of a strip of casinos, or a single real Las Vegas style casino, in India is enough to get any casino exec’s mouth watering.  1 billion people with a fast growing economy and middle class with nowhere (I know, they have Goa, but have you ever seen those boats?) to gamble is really a dream come true for a casino company.  (more…)
