Las Vegas Sands
LVS is building the Cotai Strip®. One thing to keep in mind when reading about the hotels on the Cotai Strip® is that in most cases LVS will be responsible for the construction of the hotels, shopping, casinos, etc and will own the complex. LVS will partner with an international hotel company to manage its respective hotel, but LVS will manage the casinos and almost everything else.
The Venetian Macao, which opened on 28 August 2007 is considered to be the anchor of the Cotai Strip®. It is said to be the second biggest building in the world. The Venetian’s casinos is massive, with 540,000 square feet of gaming space, 870 table games and 4,100 slot machines. The hotel has 3,000 all-suite rooms, and is connected to a huge convention, exhibition and shopping centre.
LVS other projects, which the company hope to have completed by 2010 are:
The Four Seasons, which is one of the smaller hotels you’ll find on the Cotai Strip®. This 400 room hotel will be adjacent to and attached to the Venetian Macao at the shopping mall and casino levels. The Four Seasons’ site will also include 300 luxury apartments in a separate 40-storey tower.
Across the highway from the Venetian Macao on Parcels 5 and 6, LVS is building the Sheraton Macau and the luxururious St. Regis Macao. The Sheraton’s twin towers will have 3,985 guest rooms, including 257 suites, two health clubs, two swimming pools, five restaurants and 140,000 square feet plus of meeting and function space. Internatinoal hotelier Starwood Hotels will be in charge of management.
Next Door, LVS is building two additional hotels, Shangri-La and Traders hotels. Shangri-La will manage both of its own branded hotels. Shangri-La will have 600 deluxe rooms and Traders’ will have 1,000 hotel rooms. There will be one casino that will be shared by both hotels. The casino floor will have 325 table games and 1,750 slot machines. There will also be shopping and entertainment facilities at this complex.
LVS’ Parcel 7, where they are building a Hilton hotel and Conrad Hotel. Both hotels to be managed by Hilton. The Hilton Macao will have 1,200 guest rooms while the Conrad will be smaller in size with only 300 rooms, but will be very high end. LVS will manage a joint casino, again with 325 gaming tables and 1,750 lot machines.
Last but not least LVS is building a Fairmont Hotel and a Raffles Hotel, which will be managed by Fairmont Raffles Holdings. Combined, these two Cotai Strip® hotels will add another 1,500 rooms to the LVS total.
The Far East Consortium is supposed to be building several hotels on Parcel 3 of the Cotai Strip®. The four hotels are the Cosmo (Cosmopolitan), Dorsett, Holiday Inn and Intercontinental hotel brands, for a total of around 3,000 rooms. The site will also include one million square feet of shopping and entertainment space and 360,000 square feet of serviced apartments. LVS will manage the 325 table, 1,750 slot casino floor since Far East is not a concessionaire, but Far East will be responsible for everything else.
