Philippines
The Philippines has had casino gambling for a number of years, but it has never really been a large tourist attraction. Over the past few years, the government controlled gaming authority, PAGCOR, realized that if Macau can become an Asian gaming destination with its murky water and dirty air, then certainly Manila Bay can become one too.
So PAGCOR decided to create a special gaming district in Manila Bay that would be home to many billion dollar integrated casino resorts. The name this district is most commonly referred to is PAGCOR City, but I have also seen it called Entertainment City Manilla, or E-City Manila, or my favorite , Bagong Nayong Pilipino-Manila Bay Integrated City.
Some of the recent announcements have also included resorts in nearby Newport City, and I’m honestly not quite sure what to make of all the different names, so I’ve done my best to try and organize everything I’m reading.
